Ngoc Trinh is a Vietnamese model who is facing harsh punishment for wearing a revealing dress to the Cannes Film Festival.
The dress’ design was inspired by a snake, and it took a month to complete.
The Vietnamese minister of culture, sports, and tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, however, said that her outfit was improper, offensive, and has caused public outrage.
The minister has since ordered an investigation into whether the model violated the country’s public decency laws with her dress (even though she wore the dress in France), and, if found guilty, she could face a heavy fine.
Vietnamese people have since used the photos of the festival to make jokes about the model, and they photoshopped some leggings for her and suggested what else she could wear on the red carpet to be within the country’s law.
