Vintage Anti-Suffrage Posters That Show How Afraid People Were Of Women Voting

Nowadays it’s easy to take our ability to vote for granted, it’s even easier to forget what our grandmothers and great-grandmothers had to go through just a few decades ago to win that right.

Suffrage was a highly divisive and controversial issue in Western society not so long ago, and if you think it’s scary to challenge the status quo today, just imagine how it was 100 years ago. These postcards that date from the early 20th century are a perfect example of this, and you can see the frustration of men and women alike in them. These people were afraid of giving women the right to vote and they thought that it will somehow ruin the world and the progress that was made.

The mocking images that we have here still look familiar, even today, as many feminists are often depicted as irrational and neurotic.
