Although one would believe that the gender binary wouldn’t be the single most important thing when it comes to haircuts in 2020, it’s still the case, and it doesn’t seem that the tide is about to change anytime soon.
If you’ve ever been in a hair salon (duh), you do realize that they tend to cater to women, while barbers almost exclusively cater to men. The problem occurs when women with so-called “male” haircuts and men with “female” haircuts visit a hair salon or a barbershop, and they sometimes even receive pushback from the businesses themselves. Ouch.
One Reddit user that describes herself as a “woman in her 20s with very short hair” and “very masculine looking” shared her story about what happened when a barber refused to serve her because she’s a woman.
Redditor u/Barbershopwoman shared her story in the popular Am I The A-hole subreddit, and she questioned if she was in the wrong for shaming a barber online that refused to serve her. Check out her story below, and we believe you will immediately know who the a-hole is here!
Most Redditors agreed, of course, that she’s most definitely not in the wrong here, and she did what she could after she was refused service. As one Redditor pointed out, what hurts small businesses the most is turning away customers, and this is exactly what this barber did.
