Katrina Holte is a 30-year-old woman who gets up at 6:30 every morning to lay out her husband’s clothes before heading downstairs to prepare him breakfast and prepare a packed lunch for him to take in the office.
She spends the rest of the day cleaning, ironing, and doing laundry, before the stars the preparation for the couple’s evening meal. The evening meal is always cooked from scratch, and it’s always on the table on time.
Her average day now, however, is very different when compared to her average day a year ago before she quit her job to become a full-tome 1950s inspired housewife and look after her engineering manager husband Lars.
Katrina used to work in a busy payroll department before she chose to give up her career in order to live a vintage lifestyle after she felt worn out by the day to day stress at the office.
Katrina says that she feels like she’s now living how she has always wanted to, and it’s her dream life and her husband shares her vision.
She admits that it’s a lot of work, though. She does tons of dishes, laundry, and ironing, but she loves it and it’s helping to take care of her husband, which makes her very happy.
Her husband is very appreciative of what she does, as he grew up in a house where he used to help his mom with the cooking and the cleaning, so he’s not domineering in any way.
“If I did, heaven forbid, have dinner late, he would not make a fuss, but I can tell it means a lot to him that it’s normally on time.” – she told Metro.uk.
Katrina thinks that a man needs his wife to make him feel spoilt every once in a while. However, she has taken her role as a traditional 1950s housewife to the extreme, and she now wears dresses she has made herself. She has also filled her home with 1940s-style furniture, and has a traditional bedroom.
She said that she sometimes feels like she was born in the wrong decade, especially when she looks at everything that is happening in the world right now.
She adds that she agrees with old-fashioned values, like being a housewife, taking care of your family, keeping your house in excellent condition, and nurturing the people in it.
She quit her job in September 2018, and she says that it was a fantastic feeling when she quit. She says that she can do what she wants to now and run her house as she wants to run it. She’s a full-time homemaker now.
She insists that her lifestyle is her choice, and it has nothing to do with her husband.
Katrina notes that her husband would never expect this from her, and it was entirely her idea to live like this, as it has been her dream since she was a little girl.
