An Australian 28-year-old woman, had a record-breaking birth, although it may not be the type of record that future mothers would like to break. According to the statistics by Kids Health, her baby was born weighing 12lbs or 5.7kg, which is twice the size of an average healthy newborn.
What makes it even more astonishing, is that she had this birth without any painkiller medications.
The baby boy who is Nikki’s second child was named Parker. Her firstborn daughter was in the hospital to greet her younger brother, although in a few years he may look like her big brother!
Nikki is saying that she is aware that all births hurt, no matter the size of the baby and that she didn’t at all regret her decision to turn down the painkillers.
The Australian mom was also lucky that her birth was quite shorter than a regular active labor and lasted only 2 and a half hours.
The Blacktown Midwifery Group shared a Facebook post to congratulate the mother on her healthy birth.
“This gorgeous chunky boy was born on Thursday to one of our MGP Mums, Nikki. He weighed in at a record-breaking 5.755kg (12lb 6oz) and was a natural birth with no complications. We are happy to report the not so little Parker and Mum Nikki are doing well.”
