Woman Quits Her Job To Become “Live Like It’s 1959” Traditional Housewife

A woman has decided to quit her job in marketing and become an old-school, traditional housewife. She now spends her days cleaning, cooking, ironing, and making sure that her home is nice and tidy. She lives together with her husband and their son, and she says that she’s never been happier.

Alena Kate Pettitt is the mom that decided to swap the board meetings for the ironing board, and she’s now “living like it’s 1959”.

Alena told BBC that she’s very happy with her new life as a housewife and a mom, and she has set up The Darling Academy to advice other women so they can learn how to become a traditional housewife, or popularly called, TradWife.

She has even set up a website, and her site reads that the “TradWife” is a new popular movement in which homemakers of our generations are happy to share their experiences. They want to “keep the house and spoil their husbands like it’s 1959”, and she shares that she’s proudly in that club.

Alena told ABC that she decided to “rebel” against modern society because she’s a woman that grew up in the 1990s.

She noted that the culture at the time was anything but what she enjoyed, and it made her feel like an outsider. She feels like she was born to be a mother and wife, and she’s happy to let the other girls fight the boys and go out and be independent.

Alena loves the old shows of the 1950s and 60s, but she grew up in a single-parent household, where her mom had to go out and work, so the home became a huge burden for her. Alena identified that she didn’t want the same life at that point, and that rebellion really started to show when she met her husband. She notes that her husband is very traditional, and he offered to look after her and make her feel secure.
