Woman Shares Maternity Photoshoot With Her Ph. D. Thesis, And It’s Totally Relatable

It’s June, and that only means one thing: students (almost) everywhere around the world are handing in their graduation thesis.

It’s an important academic achievement that tests the knowledge they gained during the years they spent studying and allows them to finally get the reward of their hard work.

Many students are getting very creative when it comes to celebrating this milestone, but the spotlight was stolen this year by 26-year-old grad student Sarah Whelan Curtis.

She did an absolutely hilarious “maternity” photoshoot after she “gave birth” to her thesis, and her photos gained a lot of popularity on social media.

She’s doing her Ph.D. at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and she just recently finished her thesis on epigenetics. Yes, it took her 4 years to write it, and she celebrated it with a maternity photoshoot, which she later shared on Twitter:

Many people compared writing a thesis to a very long labor, and her photos were an inspiration for many.

Her tweet was liked more than 252k times and retweeted more than 50k times, and it even prompted other graduate students to share their own “babies”:
