A 35-year-old woman has filed a lawsuit against a New York-based gynecologist and fertility doctor, and claims she’s her biological father and used his own semen to impregnate patients without their consent.
Dr. Morris Wortman and his clinic ‘Center for Menstrual Disorders’ have been accused of medical malpractice, battery, lack of informed consent, negligence, fraud, and infliction of emotional distress.
The plaintiff claims that she’s the daughter of a woman who received fertility treatments from Wortman in the 1980s at his clinic, and she knew she was born in 1985 through artificial insemination.
Allegedly, the doctor told the family that the semen donor had been a medical student from the University of Rochester, but she questioned his claim after taking a DNA genealogy test and she discovered at least nine half-siblings who were also children of the same donor.
Even though the plaintiff’s suspicion continued to grow, she was a patient of Wortman for nine years. She wrote in the lawsuit that Wortman also asked her questions about her family and even brought his wife into an appointment to meet her at one point.
According to the lawsuit, he even once told her that ‘she’s a really good kid’.
David Berry, a half-sibling of the plaintiff, has been in touch with her for around four years and had been following her genealogy test, and genetic tests confirmed the link between the plaintiff, Berry, and Wortman.
Due to the statute of limitations, however, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office said that it’s unlikely that the doctor will face criminal charges.
