Stephen Moore, former Trump campaign adviser and economic commentator made very insulting comments regarding women. He wrote in a column that women should be banned from refereeing, announcing, or beer vending at men’s college basketball games, and he asked if there was any area in life “where men can take vacation from women”.
His columns were reviewed by CNN’s KFile and published on the National Review magazine and website in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
Moore complained in a 2000 column about his wife voting for Democrats, and he wrote that women are “soo malleable. No wonder there’s a gender gap”. He also criticized female athletes for advocating pay equality, and he wrote that they wanted “equal pay for inferior work”.
Moore also worked as a Wall Street Journal editorial board member, and was the president of the Club for Growth at the time – a conservative political organization. He was also a CNN contributor from 2007 until 2019.
He told KFile in an email that this was a spoof, and he has a sense of humor.
He suggested in one of his 2002 columns changes to March Madness tournament to get rid of “un-American” aspects of it, and the first rule he proposed was “no women”.
He wrote that there should be no women refs, no women announcers, no women beer venders, no women anything”. Oh, he added that they would be only allowed to participate if they look like Bonnie Bernstein (a CBS sports journalist at the time).
He was also outraged at NCAA for allowing a woman to referee a men’s game, and he wrote that he sees it as an obscenity. He questioned if there is an area in life where men can take a vacation from women.
Moore wrote that “the feminization of basketball generally” is a big and serious social problem in America, and he was upset that women’s basketball games were shown on ESPN. He also wrote that another problem is that women “now feel free to play with the men” in playground games and rec leagues, and he added that there’s no joy in dunking over a girl.
And yet in another column, he complained that Venus Williams was a multi-millionaire precisely because she’s a woman, and she receives much higher pay than an equally skilled man.
I mean, is this man for real?
